Position Summary:

The Laboratory Associate I supports day-to-day laboratory operations in a regulated environment under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor. This role assists with routine laboratory testing, maintains laboratory equipment and workspaces, and ensures all activities are performed in compliance with the company’s Quality System, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

This position may be filled at an entry-level or experienced level, depending on the candidate’s background, training, and laboratory experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

Complete and maintain all required training and accurately document laboratory and production records, both manually and electronically, in accordance with the company’s Quality System and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Assist with laboratory testing activities under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, including:
    • Bacterial Endotoxins Testing (BET)
    • Total Organic Carbon (TOC) testing
    • Protein testing
    • Hemoglobin testing
  • Ensure laboratory equipment, tools, and instrumentation are properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and ready for use
  • Perform cleaning, sterilization, autoclaving, and depyrogenation of glassware, tools, and other reusable laboratory items
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory workspace
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and written work instructions

Required Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of laboratory experience (academic or professional)
  • Bachelor’s degree (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline preferred)
  • Exposure to a laboratory, medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated environment
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and technical instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Basic computer skills for electronic recordkeeping and data entry
  • Ability to work effectively in a structured, regulated environment
  • Willingness to learn aseptic technique, regulated testing methods, and quality system requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with laboratory testing methods such as BET, TOC, protein, or hemoglobin testing strongly preferred
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS}, ISO, FDA, or GMP-regulated environment is a plus

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move laboratory materials and equipment as required
  • Work is performed in a laboratory environment with exposure to standard laboratory equipment and materials
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE} required
